Robert De Niro goes on profanity-laced rant on President Trump at awards show

Robert De Niro has been an outspoken critic of President Donald Trump, and he continued to rail on the commander in chief Tuesday night.

CNN reported that De Niro was addressing an audience at the National Board of Review Annual Awards Gala in New York City and compared the Trump administration’s attacks on the media to those carried out by former President Richard Nixon.

Video of the speech came from audience members, who quoted De Niro’s harsh condemnations on social media. The New York Times and The Washington Post also reported on De Niro’s criticism of Trump.

The actor made the remarks in a speech before introducing actress Meryl Streep, who has also been outspoken against Trump.

“This (expletive) idiot is the president. It’s The Emperor’s New Clothes -- the guy is a (expletive) fool ... our baby-in-chief -- the ‘(expletive)in-chief’ I call him,” De Niro said.

The actor’s remarks against Trump started before the 2016 presidential election, when he urged voters to cast their ballots for Hillary Clinton.

“I know we’re here to celebrate movies in Hollywood … but it’s two days before a frightening election, and the shadow of politics is hanging over us whether we like it or not, and it’s hard for me to think about anything else,” De Niro told the audience at the 2016 Hollywood Film Awards. “So let me just lay it out right here — we have the opportunity to prevent a comedy from turning into a tragedy. Vote for Hillary Tuesday.”

Others who attended Tuesday’s event were Whoopi Goldberg, Angelina Jolie, actress and former Miss Israel Gal Gadot and late-night TV talk show host Stephen Colbert.

James Franco denies allegations of sexual misconduct

Actor James Franco on Tuesday denied allegations of sexual misconduct levied against him on social media in recent days, telling Stephen Colbert on CBS’ “The Late Show” that “the things I heard on Twitter are not accurate.”

Actress Ally Sheedy, who Franco directed in an off-Broadway production in 2014, hinted Sunday at inappropriate behavior from the actor in a series of since-deleted tweets during the Golden Globe Awards show. Franco, who won a Golden Globe for his performance in “The Disaster Artist,” appeared at the show wearing a “Times Up” pin in support of the movement that has encouraged women to speak up against sexual abuse in Hollywood.

"James Franco just won. Please never ever ask me why I left the film/tv business,” Sheedy, who was a member of the so-called “Brat Pack” in the 1980s, wrote on Twitter, according to Vanity Fair.

In an earlier tweet, she wrote, "Why is James Franco allowed in? Said too much."

She did not elaborate.

Franco told Colbert on Tuesday that he “had no idea what (he) did to Ally Sheedy.”

“I directed her in a play off-Broadway. I had nothing but a great time with her (and I have) total respect for her,” Franco said. “I have no idea why she's upset. She took the tweet down. I don’t know; I can’t speak for her.”

Sheedy was one of at least three women to take to Twitter with allegations that Franco had engaged in inappropriate behavior.

Filmmaker and actress Sarah Tither-Kaplan claimed that a contract she signed with Franco was exploitative after she said he directed her to be fully nude.

In a separate tweet to Franco, actress Violet Paley wrote, “Remember the time you pushed my head down in a car toward your exposed penis & that other time you told my friend to come to your hotel when she was 17?”

Franco denied the accuracy of the allegations.

“Look, in my life I pride myself on taking responsibility for the things I’ve done,” he said Tuesday. “The things that I heard that were on Twitter are not accurate, but I completely support people coming out and being able to have a voice, because they didn’t have a voice for so long. So, I don’t want to shut them down in any way.”

It’s not the first time Franco has been accused of questionable behavior.

Lucy Clode was 17 years old in 2014 when she said she met Franco after a Broadway show, according to New York magazine’s The Cut blog. The two exchanged messages on Instagram and Franco, who was 35 at the time, tried to get her to meet him in a hotel room, the magazine reported.

He later apologized for the incident, which he attributed to “bad judgment.”

The 4-month-old baby posed for the cover with her mother when she was 3 months old.

In a new interview with the magazine, Williams shares how her life has changed since giving birth, and details a health scare leading to and after an emergency cesarean section.

Although she’s expressed interest in just moving to Silicon Valley and being a full-time mother, she still has goals in her tennis career.

“Maybe this goes without saying, but it needs to be said in a powerful way: I absolutely want more Grand Slams. I’m well aware of the record books, unfortunately. It’s not a secret that I have my sights on 25 (Grand Slam wins).”

“I think having a baby might help,” she said.” When I’m too anxious I lose matches, and I feel like a lot of that anxiety disappeared when Olympia was born. Knowing I’ve got this beautiful baby to go home to makes me feel like I don’t have to play another match. I don’t need the money or the titles or the prestige. I want them, but I don’t need them. That’s a different feeling for me.”

Welcoming Olympia into the world was not without complications. Vogue reported that Williams underwent an emergency C-section when her daughter’s heart rate dropped during contractions. The day after, she had shortness of breath from several small blood clots that formed in her lungs. The athlete has a history of blood clots and was off her daily anticoagulant regimen because of the C-section. A coughing spell from her pulmonary embolism split her surgery scar, and she went into surgery again, where a hematoma was in her abdomen. She went into surgery a third time to have a filter inserted to prevent more pulmonary embolisms.

The surgeries meant Williams had to spend six weeks on bed rest, but she’s since recovered and has her sights set on her life as a wife, mother and tennis great.

“I think sometimes women limit themselves,” Williams said. “I’m not sure why we think that way, but I know that we’re sometimes taught to not dream as big as men, not to believe we can be a president or a CEO, when in the same household, a male child is told he can be anything he wants. I’m so glad I had a daughter. I want to teach her that there are no limits.”

Michael Douglas denies sexual misconduct allegations from 30 years ago in new interview

Actor Michael Douglas is preemptively denying allegations that he masturbated in front of a female employee 30 years ago.

Douglas, 73,  denied the allegations in a Tuesday interview with Deadline after two publications reportedly reached out to him about possibly publishing the woman’s claims.

“I felt the need to get ahead of this. It pertains to me but I’m also getting a sense of how it reflects in our culture, and what is going on today. I see it as a cautionary tale,” Douglas told the publication

“I got a message from my attorney that The Hollywood Reporter wanted to do a story about an employee that worked for me approximately 32 years ago. She claims that, One, I used colorful language in front of her, not at her, but that I used colorful language. Two, she claims that in conversations I had in front of her, on the phone, that I spoke raunchily, or dirtily with friends of mine, in private conversations. I fired her eventually, for the work she was doing, but Three, she claims that I blackballed her from the industry and stopped her form getting another job.

“I’ve had no contact with her, in 30-plus years. I talked to the reporter and said, ‘Listen, as far as using colorful language in front her, I apologize. None of it was directed at her; she didn’t say it was,’” he said. ” … As far as blackballing her, that was completely untrue. She was a lady who was involved in development at my company, and we just didn’t have a good development record in the time she was there, so I just moved on. I never blackballed her. If people from the industry called me to ask about her, I would have been honest, but I never blackballed her.”

He also addressed the woman’s claims that he pleasured himself in front of her.

“I don’t know where to begin,” Douglas said. “This is a complete lie, fabrication, no truth to it whatsoever.”

Douglas told Deadline that the allegations against him are “extremely painful” and hurt his family’s reputation in Hollywood.

“I pride myself on my reputation in this business, not to mention the long history of my father and everything else. I don’t have skeletons in my closet, or anyone else who’s coming out or saying this,” he said.

“I tried to figure out, why the hell would somebody do this? The part that hurt the worst is having to share something like this to your wife and your children. My kids are really upset, has to go to school worrying this is going to be in some article about me, being a sexual harasser. They’re scared and very uncomfortable.”

Douglas said that his wife, actress Catherine Zeta-Jones, has been “very supportive” in the wake of the story.

“My reasons are personal in coming forward. But I’m going to continue the way I’ve always treated women, as equals and my peers. Working closely with them. I would hope that as a cautionary tale, we will be careful about accusing and being accused,” he said.

Wendy Williams angers Carrie Underwood fans with 'face-lift' comments

Talk show host Wendy Williams is in hot water with Carrie Underwood fans after making some comments about the country star on her show on Jan. 8.

During the segment called “Hot Topics,” Williams recapped Underwood's recent fan club blog post in which she opened up about sustaining a facial injury during a fall at her home last November. The injury required 40 to 50 stitches, and Underwood told her fans she wasn’t sure if she would look the same as a result.

>> On RareCountry.com: Carrie Underwood offers fans a tease of a big new song

Williams got some of the facts wrong when she talked about Underwood's fall, including claiming that the country superstar said she would be unrecognizable after the fall. You can see it all for yourself in the YouTube video of the show.

>> Carrie Underwood tells fan club that she injured face in fall, needed 40-50 stitches

Williams said, “When I heard about Carrie Underwood, I was more shocked. Did you hear about her? We’re not really talking about it because I really don’t know a whole bunch about it other than she allegedly fell down a bunch of steps at her house, broke her wrist. She released on Twitter that we might not recognize her when it’s all said and done. I don’t know what that means. An excuse for a face-lift? No, ’cause we’re cynical. She was already cute, so I don’t know what she’s doing or what had happened.”

As you can see from these comments on Twitter, Underwood fans aren’t pleased at all with Williams' insinuation that the 34-year-old faked a fall to get a face-lift.

One fan even accused Williams of using her October 2017 onscreen fainting spell as a ratings gimmick. Twitter user @MrDetailed writes, “This comes from a woman who had to collapse on her show to pull in some ratings. @WendyWilliams you are just a disgrace. @carrieunderwood is worth a million of you.”

Another fan wondered if Williams' career would survive the backlash from Underwood's fans.

And the tweets just kept on coming …

Underwood was in good company among the women being dragged through the mud during Williams' monologue, though. The talk show host started off her “Hot Topics” segment taking shots at Oprah Winfrey, who electrified viewers with her Cecil B. DeMille Lifetime Achievement Award acceptance speech at the Golden Globes on Jan. 7.

Williams said Winfrey looked great, but then went on to say that she probably had an old-school corset on underneath her gown to slim her body down. Wendy also said Winfrey was not the best spokesperson for a weight-loss company, referring to Winfrey's involvement with Weight Watchers.

Roseanne Barr thinks she would be a better president than Oprah

Roseanne Barr apparently thinks that she would make a better president than Oprah Winfrey — or Susan Sarandon for that matter.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Barr told reporters during a press tour that should Winfrey run for president in 2020, as many Americans are calling for after her emotional and riveting Golden Globes acceptance speech, she would possibly consider an opposition run.

“I do love Oprah. Of course, I love Oprah like everybody else. But you know what? I think it was time for us as a country to shake things up and, you know, try something different,” she said. “Actually, I think I’d be a better president than Oprah and Susan Sarandon, probably even President Trump. And I did run in 2012.”

The actress also told the room that politics will not be off-limits in the upcoming reboot of her classic sitcom “Roseanne.” According to Barr, the series will take on some of Trump’s presidency, as it is a show about a working class family.

“In ‘The Roseanne Show,’ I’ve always tried to have it be a true reflection of the society we live in. I feel like half the people voted for Trump, and half didn’t, so it’s just realistic,” she said. “And, in fact, it was working-class people who elected Trump, so I felt like that was very real and something that needed to be discussed and especially about polarization in the family and people actually hating other people for the way they voted, which I feel is not American.”

The season premiere of the reboot reportedly will focus on a fight between Roseanne, a Trump supporter, and her sister Jackie, who voted for Hillary Clinton in the 2016 election.

The actress, an outspoken Trump supporter, reportedly fired back when one reporter accused the president of being xenophobic.

“Well, that’s your opinion,” she said, adding, “Well, he says a lot of crazy [expletive] … I’m not a Trump apologist. There are a lot of things he’s said and done that I don’t agree with, just like there are a lot of things Hillary Clinton has said and done that you don’t agree with. Nobody is brainwashed into agreeing with 100 percent of what anybody says.”

The reboot of “Roseanne” premieres at 8 p.m. ET March 27 on ABC.

When recently asked about her secret to longevity, White mentioned her love of vodka and hot dogs, “probably in that order,” she told Parade magazine.

But liquor and franks aren’t White’s only secret to a long, active life. The actress, who turns 96 on Jan. 17, said optimism is important, too, according to Parade.

“Enjoy life. Accentuate the positive, not the negative. It sounds so trite, but a lot of people will pick out something to complain about, rather than say, ‘Hey, that was great!’ It’s not hard to find great stuff if you look,” White said.

Queen Elizabeth so attached to vintage luggage, using it since her 1947 honeymoon

With all of the riches and fortunes at her disposal, one would think that Queen Elizabeth II would have no problem saying “out with the old, in with the new” but when it comes to her luggage, she likes things just the way they are.

According to People magazine, Queen Elizabeth II has been traveling with the same set of Globe-trotter luggage since her 1947 honeymoon with Prince Philip. She is apparently so fond of the brand, she has passed down her love of Globe-trotter luggage to her grandson Prince William and his wife, Duchess Catherine.

The particular design favored by the Queen is likely from the original collection created in 1897. An updated version is available for purchase on the brand’s website.

Globe-trotter luggage isn’t the only item Queen Elizabeth has kept through the years. Her Royal Highness also favors the British coat brand Barbour. So much so, in fact, that instead of purchasing a new coat every few years, she returns her original jacket for refurbishment. Actress Helen Mirren was even spotted in a Barbour jacket in her portrayal of Queen Elizabeth II in the 2006 film, “The Queen.”

“The Queen, for example, when she sent her long jacket back to us, we said, ‘we’d like to present you with a new one ma’am.’ And, her secretary said ‘Well, the Queen would be very pleased to accept your kind offer, but she would like her old one back, please, reproofed,” Barbour chairwoman Dame Margaret Barbour told “CBS Sunday Morning” on the January 7 broadcast.

Some things are just better when they’re worn in, even for the Queen.
