The start of Tarnation begins with a tale of two brothers, similar in their love of creating but different in their sense of influence.

Their sound is that of Nashville’s Kings of Leon mixed with popular 90s grunge bands such as Nirvana & Pearl Jam. Though, each band member brings a different influence to the table, they remain grounded in the custom of staying true to themselves. Tyler Nicholson, lead singer and rhythm guitarist, is mainly influenced by Incubus, Pearl Jam, and Nirvana. Alex Nicholson, drummer, looks to Dave Matthews Band & Modest Mouse for inspiration while Rio Crane, bassist, seeks direction through Sublime. Jordan Marshall, lead guitarist, is inspired by bands like Brand New & Ty Segall. Their diverse taste in music combines to make a different yet familiar and relatable sound.

Currently, Tarnation books shows at key, local venues in Athens and surrounding areas, playing alongside prolific Athens and Atlanta Bands; their reach expands slightly through the Southeast as well. The band just released its debut album and is constantly creating new music.

What makes Tarnation unique is its collaboration technique. Each musician contributes to the overall outcome of a tune. The result - a magical combination that keeps their cleverly crafted songs inimitable. The band’s live shows are full of energy. This trait introduces their well known presence around Athens - a town known for its part in the evolution of alternative rock.
