Since William j Barry moved to town in 2001, he has immersed himself in Athens’ legendary music scene. Arriving with an acoustic guitar and a singer/songwriter background, he soon found his sound evolving.

While at times he would work with other musicians, William found himself more of a songwriter in a studio, constructing and tracking each different instrument part of the songs he would write. In 2004 he released a demo CD, and began preforming in some bars in Athens’ Downtown.

He obtained a psychology degree from the University of Georgia, and after graduating, wrote a published trilogy of young adult novels. Though less involved with the music scene at this time, William continued to write a great deal of music.

In 2015, as he had done in the past, he recorded a complete album of new material, playing every instrument himself. The rock/pop album, Mix Tape, was independently released in December of 2015. William filmed a music video for the fourth track on the album, Go Easy.

He’s an active vlogger on YouTube, and his topics are frequently about music. He now also produces a fellow artist named Kendall Crawford.

William’s new album will arrive in spring of 2017. It promises more depth, both musically and lyrically, than his last offering. But as always, you can expect catchy, relatable songs from a place of honesty and hope.
