Man accused of choking coworker with metal wire at Phoenix company

PHOENIX — A man is accused of using a piece of metal wire to choke his coworker at a Phoenix company on Monday, authorities said.

Jay Christopher Case, 41, was arrested in Tempe on Tuesday, KPHO reported. Charges against him are pending.

According to the Phoenix Police Department, the victim said he was working at a sand-blasting machine when he saw gloves come around his head and felt a metal wire wrap around his neck, the television station reported.

The victim told police he and Case fell backward, and then he kicked his assailant in the face before coworkers came to assist him, according to KPHO.

According to court documents, the victim said he did not know why he was attacked, adding that he never had problems with Case in the past.

Case did not answer any questions from police after his arrest, KPHO reported.
