According to KTRK, the shooting occurred at Micheladas La Barra at around 10:40 p.m.

Sgt. B. Beall told KHOU that first responders found the victim dead inside the bar, but the gunman, identified only as a Hispanic man in his 20s, had already fled.

The suspect’s vehicle has since been identified by Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez as a 2009 silver Chevrolet Malibu with the Texas license tag JLX-3508, KTRK reported.

According to deputies, video from inside the bar appears to show an argument break out between two groups of people. The suspect pulled out a semi-automatic pistol and began beating one of the customers with the gun when it discharged and struck Rivera, KTRK reported.

Investigators believe the suspect is possibly en route to Laredo.

Anyone with information on the shooting or the suspect’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit at (713) 274-9100.
