There is a call for public feedback on plans for the Atlanta Highway and Lexington Road corridors in Athens, busy thoroughfares that are in line for millions of dollars in funding from the Transportation Sales Tax referendum that was approved by Athens-Clarke County voters in 2018. On-line input can be provided at the Athens-Clarke County government website through April 18.

Oconee County Commission Chairman John Daniell is among the speakers at this evening’s meeting of the Oconee County Republican Party. It is a 6:30 session at the Oconee County Chamber of Commerce headquarters in Watkinsville.

Madison County Commissioners meet this evening: it’s a 6 o’clock session at the County Government Complex in Danielsville.

Three weeks of early voting are underway today: there is a sales tax referendum on March 16 ballots in Elbert County. There is an afternoon meeting of the Elbert County School Board, a 5:30 session at Elbert County Middle School in Elberton. The prices go up in April in Banks County: the City Council in Homer has signed off on increases in city water bills in Homer. The Hoschton City Council is talking about plans to build a new City Hall in Hoschton.

The US Justice Department is awarding a $400,000 federal grant that will be shared by Hart and Franklin counties, money that will be used to support programs that combat violence against women in those counties.
