Bridge inspector rescues dog on ledge 120 feet above Mississippi River

NATCHEZ, Miss. — A dog was stranded on a bridge 120 feet above the Mississippi River, but luckily a bridge inspector was able to save the dog from his perch.

Craig Jenkins was inspecting a bridge in Natchez, Mississippi, with a crew from the Mississippi Department of Transportation when he noticed the dog on the framework below the road, WAPT reported.

It was the first time something like it happened, The Natchez Democrat reported.

Climber and rescue technician Ryan Nataluck called for help and then descended the bridge structure to rescue the pup. He first checked out the dog for injuries. Then he created a harness using ropes to pull the dog to safety, the newspaper reported.

Natchez Police Department took the dog to get checked out, WAPT reported.

The dog was adopted shortly after the rescue, the Democrat reported.
