BALDY MESA, Calif. — San Bernardino authorities are investigating after an 80-year-old California woman out for a walk was mauled to death by two dogs Friday.
According to a news release issued by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, the victim has been identified as Soon Han, The Sacramento Bee reported.
Meanwhile, the dogs’ owner, a neighbor of Han’s, is cooperating with investigators, KTLA-TV reported.
According to the sheriff’s department, Han’s body was found lying on a Baldy Mesa street, suffering “major injuries,” at around 11 a.m. She was pronounced dead at the scene, KTLA reported.
Meanwhile, sheriff’s officials identified the dogs as being of the Dogo Argentino breed. According to the American Kennel Club, a Dogo Argentino is a “pack-hunting dog, bred for the pursuit of big-game such as wild boar and puma” that can reach up to 100 pounds, the Bee reported.
San Bernardino County Animal Control took the dogs into custody following the attack, pending the outcome of the investigation, KTLA reported.
Baldy Mesa is a community in the Victor Valley of the Mojave Desert, about 35 miles north of San Bernardino, the Bee reported.
