According to The Dallas Morning News, Shirley Cuban died Friday in her Mount Lebanon, Pennsylvania, home following a fight with lung cancer, son Brian Cuban said.
The mother of three, whose maiden name was Feldman, grew up near Pittsburgh and lived life “on her own terms, even as cancer ran its course,” Brian Cuban tweeted Saturday. “She was feisty, unique in so many ways, and never met a stranger.”

The Carlow College graduate also was a devoted fan of the Dallas Mavericks, the NBA franchise owned by Mark Cuban, the Morning News reported. She and her husband, Norton, lived in Dallas from the early 2000s until 2018, when Norton died, according to the newspaper. She then moved back to the Pittsburgh area, The Associated Press reported.
The family will hold a private memorial service, Brian Cuban told the Morning News.
